Haskoy is one of the few areas in Istanbul that provides a public park along the seafront. The Hidden Library integrates itself into a neighbouring landscape without detracting from its natural beauty. It ‘hides’ under a tessellated roofscape to preserve the public space above and create a new one below. The outside environment is drawn into the building with three polysurfaced courtyards to create a sense of transparency between the interior and exterior. The three dimensional roofscape is translated into two dimensional profiles that generate the interior furniture for the library.
